Sweet Memory of Yeh Yeh
A Moment of Silent in Prayer.... AMEN
My memories with Yeh Yeh .......... I wish it can be longer...
Running around the house, the yard, the orchard, the sawmill all day long.
Having fresh coconut water, Yeh Yeh will pluck it from the TALL coconut tree at the back orchard for everyone. Especially when Ku mah is going back to Hong Kong, she will have a sack of coconut to bring home, since it is so expensive in HK.
Eating my favourite 'chut chi' made by Yeh Yeh... his n my BEST OF ALL TIMES FAv.
Going for tea with Yeh Yeh in kopitiam. He will pour some on the saucer for me. I'll then take some biscuits from the shop to eat.
Getting $$$ from Yeh Yeh and run to the Ice kacang shop to buy junks ... all day long
Yeh Yeh's favourite ... Warm stout, chut chi, lo mai chi, nam yu pau, KFC, Ayam goreng, Teh Tarik, and anything sweet. He got sweet tooth!
Following Yeh Yeh to the sawmill at night for his 'Tai Luk Chuk' puff.
Going to Jenderata, Nova Scotia with Yeh Yeh in the Land Rover. He will be driving, and me the Monkey at the back swinging from one end to the other ... imagine the off road into estates... and i was only 6 or 7 years old!
He working, and i'll be playing with the boys, whether it is in the estates or sawmill.
He will givethe roof top a new coat every CNY.
He tend the orchard and his pets ... chicken, geese, duck with Yen Yen.
He speaks his 'Sun Leng Wa' which Chris always imitate. He thinks it sounded like some 'Guai Lou' talking Cantonese. Actually, it is the 'Mak Kar' language (the balded chinese Comedian in Aces goes Places).
Yeh Yeh is the BEST grand pa anyone can ask for.
He never had any temper, he is the coolest and most well mannered man for those who know him.
Yeh Yeh always go out of his way to help anyone that is in need of help.
Yeh Yeh is 93 years old... Strong & healthy, with a clean bill of health records that stunts doctors all the time. His hair was not even a strand of grey.
Having celebrate CNY with him and the recent one,in April... dinner. Having Guinness Stout (Yeh Yeh's Favourite) and cigi (yeah, we got scolded by Yen Yen)with him was all fun and laughter that i can remember. I can still hear myself laughing ... loud and clear too. Oblivious to the fact i guess.
It was then in April, and now in June, everything else changed.
A call from mum on Tues 15/6 in the morning. Mum don't call me in the morning. I first got the news, Yeh Yeh fainted while walking to answer a call. But luckily Yen Yen was fast enough to hold on to him. He did not fall. Yen Yen put him on a chair since he was sort of still conscious. But this time he rolled down from it.
Sam ku went ahead to the clinics around to ask for aid from Doctors. And what she got was ... either they are busy or they have no one to watch over their clinic. How CRUEL. A fallen patient and they can be so cold. Sam ku decided to call for the ambulance from Red Crescent. Yeh Yeh was left on his own wif Yen Yen for almost an hour for an ambulance. Then he arrived in the Hospital at last.
While waiting for the doctors report, i was praying ... don't let it be a stroke.
Mum called. She confirmed, Yeh Yeh had a stroke. He was still very conscious and active. In fact when the doctor asked him whether can he still lift up his left limbs, he insisted he can and he did. But in actual fact he was unable to. His eyes was closed all the time.
He fought a good fight, waited for all to be back, and wish him a last good bye and to send him off ... he was at peace. At least i got to 'fuk si' Yeh Yeh for the last time like how he did for me when i was young.
A small way of me saying 'tor cheh yeh yeh' and 'choi kin ler'... He still managed to wish me & chris 'Sang yi Heng Lung' and Yeh yeh & Yen Yen usual very 'hark hei' self... said 'tor che' to chris n me for visiting him...
i'm lost for words for this two immaculate soul ...
God Bless Yeh Yeh... Peace be with him ... We will meet again ....
